Lincoln Chamber Honors Its Own
More than 200 people showed up Wednesday to the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce's annual awards ceremony.

Former Chamber President Mark Luster kicked off the breakfast by introducing newly appointed Chamber CEO Bobbi Park. Park, who's played a role in local and regional business for a number of years, said she's excited about her new position at the Chamber and the direction it's going.

"We're reaching an important crossroads," she said. "As we crest the 500 mark we'll be able to attract larger sponsors and add more programs." SureWest Communications sponsored Wednesday's event, Park said, a sure-sign that the Lincoln Chamber is up and coming in the regional business market.

New board members Flaviane Petersen of Personalized Dental Care and Daryn Kumar of Sutter Roseville Medical Center were inducted as part of the ceremony.

Luster, who's served as president for two years, stepped down from his post to swear in incoming President Marcus Lo Duca, an attorney with offices in Roseville.

Lo Duca commended Placer County for recently approving a 50-year plan to include 40 percent open space and to design communities connected by a trail system.

"Lincoln truly can have it all," he said. "It's that sense of community and place that makes Lincoln so unique."

No doubt the highlight of the morning was the recipients of the four business of the year categories.

Winner of the Small Business of the Year went to Jensen Smith Certified Public Accountants; Medium Business of the Year went to Atkin Air; Large Business of the Year was awarded to Teichert Aggregates for their involvement in the community; and Major Business of the Year winner went to Sierra Pacific Industries.

Rob Wolf of RE/MAX Real Estate Center was also recognized as Chamber Ambassador of the Year for 2006.

Luster received a special congratulations from Sen. Sam Aanestad, R-District 4 and a standing ovation for his dedication to the Chamber and the Lincoln community.
